Position Description

Job Title:	Network Engineer
Job Description:	Midcontinent Communications is looking for a self-motivated and self-directed individual to become part of the Network team. The position would be responsible for designing and implementing optical and IP networks to support VoIP, Broadband, Video, and Business Services on our Internet service provider and corporate networks. Expertise in the areas of transport (Sonet, DWDM, RPR), Cisco routers, IP and Internet protocols including BGP, OSPF, RIP, MPLS, are required. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of experience in the above specialties, excellent communications skills, and a related 4-year degree. Midcontinent Communications, a wide-band ISP, CLEC and private network provider, owns and operates the largest and most extensive fiber-optic network in our region. Branded the Northern Plains Network, or NPNet, it consists of over 5,000 fiber route miles covering a 3-state area of South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota. Voice, video and data are routed throughout the region on a path-diverse, multi-wavelength DWDM backbone serving large enterprises, SMBs and an extensive population of residential customers.
