Job Description:

Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site (MMS) is looking for a Head of Quality Standards, Assurance and Industrialization to join our Production Leadership Team based in Mobile, AL

You will Direct, supervise and coordinate all Quality Assurance, Quality Standards & Industrialization activities for A320 Flowline and Customer Line at the MMS (Line 1 and Line 2). Manage, motivate and develop two distinct teams of Quality Conformance Managers (Quality Assurance and Quality Standards & Industrialization) - with varying scope of activities - to ensure the compliance of FAL-USA A320 operations with Regulatory requirements (EASA Part 21, Subpart G).

You will also provide Quality leadership and oversight of the management of Airbus QMS within the FAL-USA A320 operations. Ensure the management of the approval audit plan. Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring accurate Quality Standards and APQP planning and implementation for the A320 Final Assembly Line Operations. Deploy and lead ongoing Quality Standards implementation which focus the operations on right-first-time and enabling serial activities which meet the planned need.

Your Working Environment:

Near 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your Challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:

1- Quality Assurance : 30%

  • Maintaining the Airbus QMS and the POA Footprint of the FAL-USA and ensuring continued compliance:
  • Ensure the management of the approval audit-plan agreed with Authorities and POA-holder to achieve the extension of the POA to FAL-USA.
  • Ensure the Internal Audit Plan is implemented and reviewed in line with Airbus Central Quality targets and requirements.
  • Maintain a Compliance review providing insight to all Management and Functions responsible for the continued surveillance of the POA Footprint.
  • Actively manage the risk to the Production Approvals for the site; specifically on the A320 Final Assembly Line.
  • Ensure the efficiency of the survey- and audit-system (QM-System, Process-, Product) and the related corrective action management.

2-Preventive Quality & Industrialization: 30%

  • Ensures that the overall Quality Standards Planning is secured to deliver 100% surveillance, process qualification and Control Plan implementation.
  • Manage the complete Quality Standards Dossier (Control Plan, PPV, IPA) dossier and ensure its accuracy.
  • Through a team of trained and competent planners, lead all aspects of the Inspection and Control Plan for the A320 family manufacturing in the FAL.
  • Ensures systems and review mechanisms exist to improve and evolve the plan based on trend and directive inputs.
  • Ensure Qualification of new Industrial Means, in line with Airbus QMS.

3-Lead/Develop: 20%

  • Lead and develop the Quality Assurance and the Quality Standards & Industrialization Teams.
  • Responsible for Cost decisions and securing Head Counts in line with operational needs and planning.
  • Ensure that operational budgets are well funded and achieved.
  • Manage Skills and Competence of the Teams.
  • Develop and implement a Make/Buy strategy for relevant activities, in line with the Site and Quality Function overall strategy.
  • Follow and improve a set of key-performance-indicators (KPI) and the related reporting system.
  • Work across the FAL's to share and engage in best practice ways of working.

4-Quality Transformation / Change Management: 10 %

  • With the support of the teams, drive the change management in the A320 Flowline and Customer Line to promote a preventive quality mindset on site.
  • Drive implementation of key Quality transformation initiatives related to preventive quality standards or inspection planning, to prepare the future.
  • Manage and deliver related project budgets.
Additional Responsibilities:

  • Quality system improvement initiatives and organization drives to improve.
  • Setting of Quality and Departmental Targets, yearly and daily.
  • Acting, and being seen to act, in accordance with Airbus Quality standards and Airbus.
  • Produce reports showing trend and data of the performance and its output to the business.
  • Work as part of the Quality Leadership Team to set key projects and directives for the FAL and Single-Aisle Quality Network which improve on the Business Defined Scorecards.
  • Participate in the definition and live the Quality Ways of Working in FAL-USA.
  • Be prepared to travel to Europe and other sites as required.
  • Act with integrity in line with the FAL-Mobile Culture and Safe, Positive, Productive Vision.
  • Work with the leadership team(s) on improving Culture and mind-set with regards to the A320 line.

Qualified Experience and Training:

1-Education Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience in Production (Aerospace or other) Quality Departments is required.
2-Experience Required
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Aerospace and/or equivalent environment is required.
  • Must have 5 Years' experience as a Manager within Quality and/or equivalent exposure.
  • Quality experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is also required.
Licensure/Certifications Preferred
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)

  • Good Knowledge about non-conformance management and Root Cause Analysis methods within Airbus.

  • Knowledge of the Production process and build cycle.
  • Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of aircraft mechanical & electrical installation.
  • Familiar with the American aviation market, its Airlines and Airline Representatives
  • Ability to quickly understand procedural and technical documents.
