Position Title: Electrician Reports To: Site Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Division: Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) Location: Lakehurst, NJ Position Summary Under general supervision, works in testing, calibration, modification, maintenance, repair and servicing of electrical and fire life safety infrastructure and facility support equipment. Installs electrical devices, wiring, and systems. Monitors and maintains safe operating condition of all electrical systems and related equipment. This job class requires knowledge of federal and state codes, laws and regulations regarding electrical and fire life safety installation, repair, and maintenance.
Job Responsibilities
Follows procedures, regulations and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
Complies with National Electrical Code and company standards when wiring equipment, following all applicable safety policies and codes.
Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment.
Uses a variety of electrician's power and hand tools, measuring and testing instruments.
Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
Installs, maintains and operates electrical systems, equipment, and appliances, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, electric gate crossings, signals, switches, or other equipment.
Locates and diagnoses problems in the electrical system or equipment.
Records and reports inspections, repairs performed and equipment replaced.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Job Requirements
A range of hand and power tools and instruments; Use of own tools may be required.
Five (5) years technician/journeyman level commercial experience.
Knowledge of NEC and electrical/wiring principles; building codes, local, state and federal regulations on electrical and fire life safety installation, repair, and maintenance.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests; and to escalate the more difficult matters appropriately in English. Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time, and adapt to changing work priorities.
Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance, to work independently and as a team, and to build effective working relationships.
Ability to manage material resources, changing priorities, workflow, multiple projects and deadlines.
Ability to work safely and understand all safety requirements and company policy. Ability to travel to various facilities.
Ability of reading and interpreting schematics and technical specifications. Ability to work under great health risk.

High degree of attention and care required to prevent injury to others when responsible for flow of electrical power.
Ability to read and write reports.

Education or Equivalent
Requiresa high school diploma, GED,tradeschoolcourseworkor apprenticeship.
License
Valid driver’s license required for this position at most locations. Must maintain an acceptable driving record while in this position.
