Transportation Assistant Internship Program

Flower Mound, Texas

The BNSF Logistics Internship Program gives college students practical, on-the-job experience in a business environment. The time spent as an intern lets the student evaluate BNSF Logistics for future employment, just as it lets BNSF Logistics evaluate the intern as a future employee. During internship, a student receives evaluations based on his or her performance and overall contribution to the organization. BNSF Logistics uses these evaluations as a basis for future hiring consideration.

Responsibilities

• Primary function of the Transportation Assistant Intern is to support in the coordination and management of shipments as requested by the customer. Other responsibilities include data entry, tracking and tracing, securing equipment, setting appointments and maintaining a thorough understanding of the Transportation Management System.

What To Expect:

The program includes an orientation with an overview of corporate policies and appropriate conduct. Interns participate in several key activities throughout their program, including:

• Weekly assignments
• Projects
• Wrap-up capstone - presentation to be presented to executive group

Required Job Qualifications:

• Current student pursuing a two or four year degree in a related field
• Interested in pursuing a career in transportation and logistics
• Strong work ethic, initiative and ambition
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Strong skills in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)
• Must be organized, detail-oriented and able to follow through with tasks to their conclusion
• Comfortable working in a fast paced environment

Desired Job Qualifications:

• Customer Service experience a plus
